Eyelid lift/eyelid correction (blepharoplasty)

Have bags under the eyes and drooping eyelids medically treated and removed.

Eyelid correction Description

As we all know, the elasticity of the skin and eyelid muscles decreases over the years, which can lead to heavier eyelids, bags under the eyes, drooping eyelids and age wrinkles. Your facial expressions look tired and exhausted – even if you are full of energy. With an eyelid correction or eyelid lift, you can make your eye area glow again, give it a fresh and vital look and rejuvenate your appearance with a naturally beautiful result.

Alongside breast augmentation, liposuction and the treatment of wrinkles, eyelid lifting is one of the most frequently requested procedures at our practice in Zurich and Bad Ragaz. Whether an upper eyelid lift, lower eyelid lift or combined eyelid lift – thanks to many years of specialist experience and state-of-the-art techniques, the risks of this operation are very low.

Types of eyelid lift treatment

Upper and lower eyelid lift

Upper eyelid lift

Upper eyelid lift: how drooping eyelids are removed

During an upper eyelid lift, the specialist removes excess skin and fatty tissue. At the beginning of the operation, he makes a wedge-shaped incision in the upper fold of the eyelid. In this way, no scars are visible later when the eye is open. Small wrinkles around the eyes can also be corrected with an upper eyelid lift.

An eyelid lift usually does not require general anesthesia. It usually takes place in our practice under twilight sleep, with local anesthesia if desired. You can find out more about this from your doctor during your consultation.

Lower eyelid lift

Lower eyelid lift – a truly beautiful look: how to remove bags under the eyes

A lower eyelid lift is always advisable if there are bags under the lower eyelid. This is excess skin and usually fatty tissue that has sagged and bulged out of the eye socket.

The incision is made at the edge of the lower eyelid. The doctor then removes excess skin and tissue in a similar way to an upper eyelid lift. Fat is often redistributed so that a deep tear trough is plumped up. This is an excellent way to conceal dark circles. In addition, slack muscles can be tightened if necessary.

Alternatively, the lower eyelid lift is performed via an incision on the inside of the eyelid. This operation does not leave any visible scars.

General anesthesia is also not normally necessary for a lower eyelid lift. Similar to upper blepharoplasty, we only administer a local anesthetic with or without twilight anesthesia to patients in the practice before the operation.
